In honor of National Mustard Day on Saturday (Aug. 3), French's dropped a bright yellow mustard-flavored ice cream. Yes, you read that right: mustard-flavored ice cream. The frozen treat will be available at Coolhaus ice cream stores for a limited-time, so, if you feel inclined to try mustard-flavored ice cream, make sure you grab some ASAP.
Now that we know mustard ice cream exists, many people are asking French's one important question: why? The company explained they simply wanted to "bring together two all-American classics, ice cream and mustard." For those adventurous enough to try this innovative dessert, Coolhaus and French's will also give out a pretzel cool with every purchase.
If you aren't able to get a scoop during the flavor's limited-time run, French's also released a recipe for the ice cream so fans can make it at home. One entertainment journalist tried the ice cream in New York on Thursday (Aug. 1) and, surprisingly, found it to be "delicious."
Shortly after French's unveiled their mustard-flavored ice cream, Oscar Meyer hopped on the savory ice cream bandwagon. They're taking this whole thing one step further with an Ice Dog Sandwich. Oscar Meyer's interesting new ice cream sandwich will be available in New York City during the week of Aug. 12, however, they encourage fans from other areas to DM them on Twitter in order to win one through a limited-time giveaway.
As Dr. Ian Malcom says in Jurassic Park, French's and Oscar Meyer were "so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should."
