It's rare to see Queen Elizabeth lose her composure. She's been the reigning monarch for 67 years (she's the longest reigning monarch in British history, BTW), so, she knows how to keep her cool at all times. Well, with one exception. She may be the stoic monarch of the British commonwealth, but she's also a grandmother at the end of the day. And sometimes, Grandma duties have to come before royal obligations.
A recently resurfaced video from the royal of wedding Queen Elizabeth's son Prince Andrew to Sarah Ferguson on July 23, 1986 reminded royal watchers of one of those times Grandma Duties trumped the Queen's signature composure. Following the ceremony, wedding guests waved the newlyweds off as they rode away in a horse drawn carriage. Queen Elizabeth can be seen at the front of the crowd with her grandson Prince William. When the then 4-year-old William takes off after the carriage, the Queen has to sprint after her to make sure he doesn't get too close.
The video was shared on Twitter, with a caption that reads: "It's been 33 years since the wedding of Prince Andrew and Fergie in 1986. And so here's Queen Elizabeth running after little Prince William to stop him from getting closer to the carriage. Her Majesty as a grandma is cute."
Prince William is all grown up now, of course, with three children of his own. Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis are all reportedly quite fond of their great grandmother and affectionately call her 'Gan-Gan.'
