Brody Jenner & Kaitlynn Carter Break Up, Reportedly Never Really Married

Brody Jenner and Kaitlynn Carter have gone their separate ways, one year after celebrating their wedding in Indonesia.

According to Us Weekly, the split was civil and came via a statement from the couple’s representative Scott Newman, who told the publication Friday (August 2): “Brody Jenner and Kaitlynn Carter have decided to amicably separate. They love and respect one another, and know that this is the best decision for their relationship moving forward.”

In more shocking news, however, the lovebirds, who tied the knot in a lavish ceremony overseas in June 2018, were reportedly never legally married at all, according to a source. Apparently, Jenner and Carter failed to make things official by obtaining a marriage license in the U.S. to officialize their union. What’s more, the publication reports the Hills alum was hesitant about going through with the nuptials.

So what now? It’s said Carter has already moved out of their Malibu home, and the exes have even been pictured in public without their wedding rings. The split comes at a surprise, as it was only a few weeks ago the 35-year-old expressed how returning to The Hills: New Beginnings fortified his relationship with Carter. “I think that it made us closer if anything, for sure,” Jenner told Us exclusively.

“The first year [of marriage] … I feel like we’ve been married for longer,” he added. “We’ve been together almost six years now, so, yeah, it wasn’t that big of a change. We lived together for six years, and we still live together. Everything’s been great.”

As of yet, Jenner nor Carter have publicly commented on the breakup reports.
