Meghan Markle isn't promoting any diet pills, thanks very much.
Two weight loss companies have reportedly fabricated fake quotes from the Duchess of Sussex promoting their diet pills. One of them even created an entire fake interview with Meghan, as well. Once Buckingham Palace caught wind of the fabrications, though, The Firm "vowed" to shut them down. A royal source also spoke with The Mirror, saying, "this is obviously not true and an illegal use of the Duchess’ name for advertising purposes. We will follow our normal course of action."
One advertisement for "Keto Weight Loss" tablets co-opted Meghan's image to promote their product, as well as claiming Meghan calls the tablets her "passion project" because she is "obsessed over weight." Another of their ads even fabricated a quote from Meghan that reads, "Post pregnancy my body had lost its shape. But, with keto body tone, I came back."
Another product completely fabricated another quote from Meghan, which also takes a dig at her royal in-laws. The false quote reads: "The Royal Family is not happy with me splitting my time up. They made me decide on which direction I was going to focus on the future. Being so turned off by the reaction of their power move I have decided to pursue my new weight loss line and dream."
Though Meghan has not addressed the scam personally, this situation must be frustrating for the Duchess. Meghan is reportedly not in any rush to lose any weight after welcoming Archie back in May. A royal insider told Us Weekly that Meghan “wants to change the perception that you have to be skinny to be beautiful," especially after having a baby. “It’s not easy to lose the weight,” another source explained. “She’s happy to be a realistic example to new mothers.”
Instead of focusing on how she looks, Meghan is reportedly focusing on her health and how she feels. The source revealed Meghan eats a plant based diet (with cheat days built in, of course) and "daily yoga and meditation in her equipped yoga studio at Frogmore." Yoga and meditation are Meghan's go-to's for exercise and relaxation. "What she loves most about the practice is that it helps her switch off and wind down," the source continued. Sometimes Prince Harry joins her for some yoga, as well.
During an essay for the edition of British Vogue Meghan guest edited, Meghan opened up about enjoying "high-energy, cardio-based mat workout" for exercise, as well.
Hopefully this scam gets sorted out quickly.
