Jack White showed his support for Bernie Sanders during a rally in his hometown of Detroit on Sunday (October 27). The event was a homecoming of sorts for the rockstar, who graduated from Cass Technical High School, where the rally was held, in 1993. He, along with a drummer and bassist, performed a 25-minute set of songs that included a mashup of his solo track “Corporation” and The White Stripes hit “Icky Thump,” followed by a string of White Stripes songs — “Black Math,” “We’re Going to Be Friends” and “Seven Nation Army” — and another solo tune, “Connected by Love.” White also performed a cover of Bob Dylan’s “License to Kill,” where he took a jab at the president by tweaking a line to "who's gonna take away Trump's license to kill?"
As Billboard reports, the 44-year-old confessed he'd "never done a political rally before" and doesn't associate himself with a particular political party, but "when the issues come up I try to listen." "Bernie Sanders is telling the truth, and I really do trust him," he told the crow, noting that he was drawn Sanders' position to abolish the Electoral College, which he called "the reason we're in the mess we're in now."
"I have this silly notion that the person who gets the most votes should be elected," White added.
