Colorado Woman Planned To Kidnap Her Own Child With Help From QAnon

A Colorado mother was taken into custody after police learned that she was allegedly planning a raid to kidnap one of her children who had been removed from her custody. Cynthia Abcug, 50, was reportedly working with members of the conspiracy theory group QAnon to get her child back. The group of far-right conspiracy theorists believe that President Donald Trump is trying to uncover a pedophile ring run by wealthy Democratic politicians and Hollywood celebrities.

Abcug's other daughter, who is still in her custody, told the police in September that her mother had "gotten into some conspiracy theories" after authorities removed her sibling from their house. Cynthia reportedly purchased a gun and recruited the help of a man named Ryan, who slept on her couch, to provide "self-defense" for Abcug.

Abcug's daughter was worried because she only left the house to attend QAnon meetings and practice shooting at a local gun range. Abcug believed that her daughter was taken by "evil Satan worshipers" and "pedophiles," and expected "that people would be injured during the raid."

After Abcug missed an emergency custody hearing in September, she disappeared. Authorities issued a warrant for her arrest and were concerned she would follow through on her plot to kidnap her child.

After receiving a tip from the FBI, authorities located Abcug in Montana on December 30. She was arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit second-degree kidnapping and was released after posting bond.
