Tenacious D is doing its part to support voter registration and get people to the polls this Election Day.
On Monday (March 2), Jack Black and Kyle Gass announced the Purple Nurple Tour that will be trekking through swing states this fall for a total of 10 dates starting on September 25 in Iowa.
While a short tour, the band is hoping to make a big impact by encouraging and inspiring fans to register to vote and actually show up to the polls.
In a statement, Tenacious D opened up about why getting voters registered in swing states is so important for not only the upcoming election but any election. “In 2016, six states were decided by 2 percentage points or less, and ten states were decided by 4 percentage points or less. Swing states played a pivotal role in the outcome of that election, and they will again in 2020,” the guys said.
In an Instagram caption, the band also explained more about the door and let fans know there will be two special shows in NYC and DC:
The D are very excited to announce The Purple Nurple Tour...Twisting Hard to the Left! JB & KG will be hitting swing states across the country, with special stops in NYC and DC, and partnering with @46for46 to promote voter registration and overall civic action through music. Four in ten Americans who were eligible to vote did not do so in 2016. Let’s change that and make all of our voices heard this November! But first, let’s get out there and ROCK!
Tickets go on sale this Friday (March 6) with pre-sale happening on Wednesday (March 4).
