DaBaby has since owned up to his wrongdoing after slapping a woman at his concert.
Hours after video footage of the rapper hitting a female fan during Saturday’s show (March 7) at Whiskey North in Tampa, Florida, went viral, the “Goin Baby” musician eventually issued an apology for his violent behavior. The clip caught DaBaby on camera smacking a woman who was apparently holding her phone, with the flash on, too close to his face before he lashed out at her, drawing instant ire from fans online.
"I do sincerely apologize, I do. I am very sorry that there was a female at the other end of the flashlight on the phone," the "Suge" star said on his Instagram Stories. “But keep in my mind I couldn't see you,” he explained, insisting he didn’t know he hit a woman.
He also advised fans zoom in for closer shots of him instead of putting the flash in his face, which prompted him to react like so. “We can sit down and have an adult conversation. You deserve respect, you and me both,” he offered, insisting he would be willing to fly the woman out to apologize in person, perhaps to prevent any legal action.
TMZ, who broke the story as the clip surfaced on Sunday (March 8), reports law enforcement responded to a 911 assault call at the venue, and that the victim, identified as Tyronesha Laws, told cops DaBaby hit the wrong person when he slapped her. Evidently, it was the woman beside her who waved her phone in his face, but Laws took the blow for it. By the time police arrived, DaBaby and his crew had already been booed out of the venue.
Although officers didn’t notice visible injuries on Laws, who refused EMS attention, she was given a form to submit to the State Attorney’s Office should she want to press charges. Legal recourse appears to be the next step, as Laws has since lawyered up with attorney Matt Morgan, who told TMZ, “Morgan & Morgan has been retained to represent the interests of Tyronesha Laws. Ms. Laws has received DaBaby's Instagram message. We look forward to speaking Mr. Kirk."
