Britney Spears Defends Herself Against Trolls — Azealia Banks Steps In

Britney Spears doesn't stick to glossy aesthetics for her Instagram account and that no-holds-back tactic usually draws plenty of criticism from users.

While Spears, 38, usually deters from the negativity, the pop titan took to her account on Tuesday (March 17) to defend herself against the trolls. "I've read a lot of things online of people criticizing my posts," she kicked off a lengthy message. "Saying I post the same 15 pictures with the same red background and wearing the same white bathing suit. For me I get really excited about my posts... and I like to share them with you all!!!! I've never owned a white bathing suit before and I simply liked the red background!"

Spears went on to admit that some of the comments "really hurt [her] feelings," emphasizing that users shouldn't be spewing such hate to someone that they don't even know. "This goes for bullying anyone really," she added.

"Hard times like we are currently living through should really teach us to be nice to one another," she continued.

Hardcore Spears fan Azealia Banks stepped into the mix to sound off on Spears' post. "You paved the way for SOOOOOOOOOOOO many artists and set a standard of production quality (both music and visual) that ALLLLLL FEMALE ARTISTS to this very DAY are trying to live up to," she replied. "As far as commerce & art goes, it is YOU who has created the BLUEPRINT BUSINESS MOGEL for how to develop, market and SELL a female pop star."

Banks continued her response, sharing her adoration for Spears' work ethic and messaging. "You have never ONCE used your platform to be anything other than positive, pleasant and INCLUSIVE. I cannot think of another female artist who has exemplified inclusivity in the ways you have," she continued.
