Valley restaurant giving away food to help local community amid pandemic

The head chef of Barrio Café spoke to Arizona's Family about serving free food to customers after 5pm. That's right... Barrio Cafe in Phoenix is serving the public free food every day after 5 p.m not selling it.

"I'm worried about my fellow man, especially the sanity part," said Barrio Cafe owner & chef Silvana Salcido Esparza to AZFamily. The meals are freshly cooked as well as the groceries given to the public after 5pm..

Esparza was recently in Europe this past February for a work trip but she's tested negative for COVID-19.

If you want to help, Barrio Cafe is accepting donations. Esparza said you can throw cash over her backyard fence since she lives behind the cafe.
