Chris Cuomo's Wife Tests Positive For COVID-19: 'It Just Breaks My Heart'

Chris Cuomo’s wife, Cristina, has tested positive for COVID-19 (coronavirus).

Weeks after the CNN host contracted the novel disease, Chris admitted his wife has also been diagnosed with the highly-contagious virus. The 49-year-old broke the news while speaking with his brother, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, during Wednesday’s virtual broadcast (April 15) of Cuomo Prime Time.

“Cristina now has COVID. She is now positive, and it just breaks my heart,” Chris revealed. “It is the one thing I was hoping wouldn’t happen and now it has.”

Chris explained Cristina has “her sense of smell and taste,” which he said are typical symptoms in more “mild” cases of COVID-19. Even so, the news anchor maintains his wife is “not upset” about having the disease, adding, she’s someone who “takes everything in stride.”

He also delivered the difficult news to followers on Twitter. “Families all over know the reality our family faces: few are one case and done. Sure enough, Cristina has covid now,” he tweeted last night. “Kids are still healthy but this shook us at our literal core. All are stepping up. Can't wait to shake this fever so I can help her as she helped me. Sucks.”

The couple, who has been married over 19 years, share three children: Bella, 17, Mario, 14, and Carolina, 11.

As previously reported, Chris tested positive for COVID-19 in late-March — his wife and children had tested negative at the time. Chris, who is now recovering from the virus, opened up about the terrifying symptoms he experienced with coronavirus, including hallucinations and shivers that were so intense that he’d chipped a tooth.

Nationwide, there are more than 644,200 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with over 28,500 deaths related to the disease.
