Dixie Chicks Postpone 'Gaslighter' Album Release Indefinitely

After waiting 14 years for a new album, Dixie Chicks fans will have to wait even longer. The trio announced they have postponed the release of Gaslighter indefinitely.

A statement from the group's reps said that "their highly anticipated fifth studio album, Gaslighter, originally scheduled to drop on May 1, 2020, via Columbia Records, has been postponed. Additional details are forthcoming. Fans should continue to check @DixieChicks social media for additional updates and announcements.”

At this time, no comments directly from the trio-consisting of Natalie Maines, Martie Maguire and Emily Strayer- have been made. The Dixie Chicks certainly aren't the first to delay an album release due to the coronavirus pandemic. Within country music, Luke Bryan also postponed the release of his Born Here, Live Here, Die Here album to August.

The Dixie Chicks announced their new album in early March along with the release of the title track. "Gaslighter" was written by the Maines, Maguire and Strayer alongside Jack Antonoff while the music video was directed by Seanne Farmer.

As described in a press release, the "Gaslighter" music video shows "the militant strength of women through the centuries and the unbreakable bond they create through any of life's unforeseen circumstances." This is depicted through old footage of women in the military, hard at work at jobs like riveting and more.

Gaslighter, whenever it's finally released, will be the Dixie Chicks' first album since 2006's Taking The Long Way. Stay tuned for further details regarding the official album release date, which has yet to be announced.
