DIY Projects to Try at Home That Won't Break the Bank

Bored in the house and in the house bored, still? You're not alone. And as we continue to practice social distancing to prevent the spread of COVID-19 (and/or a second wave of it), there are plenty of things you can do at home to help take your mind off of things that don't involve Netflix.

People have been sharing some of the DIY projects they've been doing while staying at home, and they include activities you can do on a small or larger scale. And best of all, they won't break the bank.

Take a look below at just some of these DIY projects people have been doing to give you some inspiration.

Tie Dye Some Clothes

Tie Dye has become the unofficial trend in loungewear during this time in quarantine, and you don't have to spend a lot of money on an expensive set, because you can totally do it yourself for next to nothing. You can either use inexpensive dye on white clothing, or you can use bleach on some old colorful clothes.

Makeover An Empty Space

People are making over their larger closets into mini rooms, and it's pretty impressive. This woman has a "Harry Potter closet under the stairs" in her house that she completely turned into a cool secret hangout spot:

People are also making over their sheds/tree houses from childhood into an updated place to spend time.

Give Your Kitchen A Facelift

Whether you live an a rental and can't permanently re-do your kitchen, or you can't afford to renovate at the moment, there are some inexpensive options (that are renter-friendly) to give the heart of your home a little bit of a facelift. With some inexpensive marble contact paper, and/or some peel and stick tile backsplash, you can really transform your space!

Dip-Dye Furniture to Jazz It Up

People are dip-dying all sorts of things, including furniture, to give it a refreshed look. Basically, the process involves paint, water, and a large tub of some sort (or kiddie pool). The finished product is pretty cool!

Make An Easy No-Sew Face Mask

While we're all encouraged to wear face masks/face coverings to help prevent the spread of coronavirus to others, making your own cloth mask can be very simple — and you don't even need a needle and thread to make one! All you need is a scarf/handkerchief and two hair ties (rubber bands will work too).

Update Your Mirror with Lighting to Take Amazing Selfies

All you need are strip LED lights, and you're in business! This is easy and quick to set up.

Update Your Old Phone Case for Summer

If you happen to have a plain phone case laying around that you don't really use anymore, why not breathe some new life into it with a fun new look.

Give Your Room a Fun Accent Wall

People are really getting creative with their painter's tape, and these DIY geometric accent walls are popping up everywhere.
