D.L. Hughley Hospitalized After Collapsing Onstage

D.L. Hughley has been hospitalized after collapsing onstage during a set on Friday night (June 19). The comedian was performing at Zanies Nashville Comedy Club when the incident occurred. A video shows the 57-year-old's speech become labored before he falls from his stool mid-set and slumps on the ground. Staff members break his fall and swiftly carry him off stage. He was rushed to the hospital, where he stayed overnight, Entertainment Weekly reports.

A rep for Hughley says he was "suffering from exhaustion after all the week's work and travel, and was kept overnight at the hospital for tests under doctor's orders. He is awake and feeling better, and wishes to thank everyone for the very kind prayer and thoughts."

Hughley got his start as the host of BET's ComicView in the early '90s. He later created and starred in the sitcom The Hughleys, and was featured in The Original Kings of Comedy alongside greats like Steve Harvey, Bernie Mac, and Cedric the Entertainer. In 2008, he hosted the comedic news show D.L. Hughley Breaks the News on CNN, and was a contestant on season 16 of Dancing with the Stars in 2013.
