The Killers Drop New Video & Reveal Updated Release Date For Upcoming Album

Back in April, The Killers announced the upsetting news that their highly-anticipated sixth album, Imploding The Mirage, would be pushed back from its projected May 29 release date.

Thankfully, fans only have had to wait a couple of more months to hear it in full.

On Thursday (July 16), the band revealed to eager fans that they can expect the album on August 21! “COVID-19 monkey wrenched us. But we persevered. Folks, mark your calendars,” the band wrote in a social media post.

Along with the exciting announcement, The Killers posted the news alongside the album's scenic and ethereal artwork. The Killers first teased the new album with the single “Caution” earlier this year, then released “Fire & Bone” and most recently “My Own Soul’s Warning.” They also released a one-off song, “Land Of The Free,” at the beginning of 2020.

“ALREADY PREORDERED AND SO READY,” one excited fan commented while another said, “the fact I preordered in November, I could’ve had a baby in that time but I’m so excited!!! thank u kings!”

If that wasn't enough good news, The Killers also dropped their cinematic music video for their newest single, “My Own Soul’s Warning.”

Sadly, we'll have to wait a bit longer to see the new songs live as The Killers have been forced to cancel their North American tour in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

“As so many of us have come to realize during the COVID-19 pandemic, the idea that we would be returning to ‘normal’ is farther along in the future than we initially thought,” the band said in a statement. “With that in mind, we have made the difficult decision to postpone our planned North American and Australian tour dates slated for the Fall. The safety of our fans and families is of the utmost importance to us always. We want nothing more to hit the road and play these songs for you and when the time is right, we will do just that! Be safe and be healthy. We appreciate you.”
