Priscilla Presley Breaks Silence On Grandson Benjamin Keough’s Death

Priscilla Presley is speaking on her grandson Benjamin Keough’s “devastating” death for the first time.

On Wednesday (July 22), the Dallas alum broke her silence on losing Benjamin to suicide earlier this month. “These are some of the darkest days of my family’s life,” the 75-year-old started in a Facebook post. “The shock of losing Ben has been devastating. Trying to put all the pieces together of all the possible whys has penetrated my soul. Each day I wake up I pray it will get better.”

Priscilla, who was married to the late Elvis Presley for six years, then proceeded to let followers know how the rest of her family is handling the loss, including her daughter and Benjamin’s mother, Lisa Marie Presley.

“I think of my daughter and the pain she is going through as she was a doting mother,” Priscilla continued. “Ben’s father, Danny [Keough], who is completely lost, as Ben was his only son. Riley [Keough], so loving and so close to him; Harper and Finley, who absolutely adored Ben. Navarone [Garibaldi], who struggles deeply with loss and death. Rest In Peace Ben, you were loved.”

Benjamin died at age 27 on July 12. As previously reported, the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner determined the cause of death to be a self-inflicted shotgun wound.

As yet, Lisa Marie has not released a public statement since Benjamin’s death. However, a rep for the star told PEOPLE, "She is completely heartbroken, inconsolable and beyond devastated but trying to stay strong for her 11-year-old twins and her oldest daughter Riley. She adored that boy. He was the love of her life."
