Taylor Swift's folklore is the talk of the town amongst fans, with many convinced that the pop titan revealed the name of Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively's newest addition to the family on the track, "betty." Now, Reynolds has come forward to react to Swift's surprise project.
On Friday (July 24), the Hollywood titan took to Instagram Story to share a photo from the music video to the track, "cardigan," without any commentary. Meanwhile, a source confirmed to PEOPLE that the track is indeed "named in part" after their youngest born, who they welcomed on October 4, 2019. Swift's album cut also mentioned their two daughters: Inez, 3, and James, 4. The former's mention arrives during the pre-chorus ("You heard the rumors from Inez/ You can't believe a word she says") and the latter appears during the bridge ("She said 'James, get in, let's drive'/ Those days turned into nights").
Reynolds and Lively quietly welcomed their third child together towards the end of 2019, but have remained mostly mum on the gender and name.
Aside from the gossip item, Swift has been receiving an overwhelming amount of positive press for the surprise album, which she worked on in isolation. The LP follows 2019's Lover and features collaboration credits from The National's Aaron Dessner, William Bowery, Bon Iver, and Jack Antonoff. At time of press, the 16-track LP had received a score of 94 on Metacritic, courtesy of glowing reviews from Entertainment Weekly, Rolling Stone and more.
