Twenty One Pilots' 'The Hype' Scores Gold Certification In The US

Twenty One Pilots just hit a huge milestone with their song “The Hype.”

According to Rock Sound, the song just became certified gold in the United States. With this certification, the duo’s anthemic single has surpassed at least 500,000 sales since it released from the group’s 2018 fifth studio album, Trench, which went gold in Canada, Poland, Mexico, and in the U.K. before becoming certified platinum in the United States earlier this year.

What’s more, “The Hype” is only the latest of the LP’s songs to go gold following previously-released singles “My Blood,” “Nico and the Niners,” and “Jumpsuit.” (“Chlorine” also achieved platinum status, FYI.)

As fans know, the rockers are no stranger to achieving unimaginable feats with their music. Their fourth album, Blurryface, became the first album in history to have each of its tracks reach gold certification from the RIAA. The 2015 offering included smash singles “Stressed Out,” “Heavydirtsoul,” and “Tear in My Heart.” Their song “Ride,” which also appears on Blurryface, recently joined the billion club after exceeding 1 billion views on YouTube this June, becoming their third track to do so after “Stressed Out” (2 billion) and “Heathens” (1.4 billion).

Since the coronavirus pandemic struck, TOP has been planning out post-pandemic performances for when the global crisis subsides. In the interim, though, the pair unveiled the never-ending visual for their “Level of Concern” project.
