Former NBA Player Gerald Wilkins Arrested On Battery Charges

Former New York Knicks guard Gerald Wilkins is facing three charges after being arrested on Tuesday (8/18) in Cobb County, Georgia.

Gerald, also known as the younger brother of NBA Hall of Famer Dominique Wilkins, was charged with two misdemeanor counts of simple battery and one misdemeanor count of criminal trespass, according to TMZ Sports.

Details of his arrest are limited; however, Wilkins has had legal problems in the recent past.

According to reports from the news outlet, officials say he attacked a work colleague on June 9 and was also involved in a domestic incident on June 6. Before that, the former player was charged with assault for allegedly trying to force his way into a woman's home back in May.

The New York Daily News reported that the 56-year-old was sent to the hospital for a mental health evaluation after his arrests in June.

Wilkins spent 14 seasons in the NBA with the New York Knicks, Cleveland Cavaliers, Vancouver Grizzlies, and Orlando Magic, averaging 13 points and three assists per game in his career. He set a career-high with 19.1 points per game with the Knicks in the 1986-1987 season during his second year in the league.
