A Miami woman is having a pretty good 2020 after winning $1 million from a scratch-off lottery ticket.
Dora Maceda won the top prize after purchasing a Gold Rush ticket at a local Walmart, according to the Florida Lottery. She's not quite taking home $1 million though. She chose to accept the one-time, lump-sum payment of $750,000.
But that doesn't mean she's going home with that amount either. The Florida Lottery is required to withhold 24% of winnings over $5,000 for federal taxes. After taxes, Maceda will still have about $570,000.
It's not quite the $1 million, but it's still a good chunk of money from a $5 scratch-off.
