'Love Island's' Arielle & Matthew Talk Season 2: Casa Amor & More

Nothing says summer quite like a new season of Love Island.

While quarantine may have gotten in the way of most of our summer plans, Love Island has come through with the island vibes, and the much-needed reality TV show drama we've craved all year. After having the cast and crew quarantine for weeks, the CBS series, which airs seven days a week, debuted late last month with a hot, new cast and from a new location: atop the Cromwell Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas at the famed Drai's nightclub, which was turned into the Love Island villa.

In an exclusive interview with iHeartRadio, host Arielle Vandenberg, and narrator and writer Matthew Hoffman sat down with our girl Emily Curl to discuss all things Love Island season two, including sharing a few behind-the-scenes secrets.

But before getting to all of that juicy tea, Arielle answered the question all die-hard Love Island fans have been dying to know: Will this season feature Casa Amor — the fan-favorite twist that puts couples to the test as the ladies are separated from their guys and new islanders are brought in to test their relationships?

"We do have Casa Amor, which we didn't have last year," Arielle shared. "So that's super exciting, and that's something I'm looking forward to because like I haven't experienced that whole thing yet besides seeing it in the UK version. So having it come here, I think it's just going to create so much more drama, more tension. It's gonna bring more Islanders, which means more people and that equals more craziness."

Now, what about those voice-overs? Matthew, who has become known for his hilarious narration, revealed all that goes into creating his beloved voice-overs behind the scenes. "It is the fastest turn and it is a process that truly insane but so rewarding," he said of the voice-over and writing process. "[We're writing and recording] as close to possible that you guys watch [the show]. Like literally there are some shows within minutes, my last breath before you guys get it. Like it's that close sometimes."

Matthew went on to explain that he creates his voice-overs by sitting down and watching the show like viewers at home. "I pause it, [ask] what's he wearing, what's that? The whole goal of my role is to watch it as if I'm sitting next to you on the couch," he said. "Then I come here in to this room, that's my mic, my best friend for like the next five weeks. And then I record all the lines that we wrote. I listen to them back, I pick my favorite and then they go out into the universe and I never hear them again until."

Can you say, dream job?
