The State Fair of Texas is bringing a drive-thru experience this year for those who just need a little slice of the fair in their lives, and Big Tex is back for it.
Wednesday morning, Big Tex was lifted into position and is even sporting a new accessory.
The 55-foot cowboy is sporting a huge face mask in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.
Along with driving through for some tasty fair treats, fans can get a photo with Big Tex by making a reservation. The professional photos start at $25. Spokeswoman for the State Fair of Texas, Karissa Condoianis, explained how the reservations work.
"Everything has to be purchased online in advance at bigtex.com. For each of these events, you choose the day that you want to come out and that entry window time. You can enter any time within that window you choose. So that way we can help move people through the grounds cautiously and safely," she stated.
If you're wondering about the food competition, The Big Tex Choice Awards are taking place online this year and voters will choose their favorites from the comfort of their homes.
Proceeds from this drive-thru experience help benefit the State Fair of Texas operations and the North Texas Food Bank.
