Planning on going out for dinner during fall and winter months?
Chicago officials mapped out guidelines for outdoor seating during the ongoing pandemic as the Windy City begins to brace for a change in seasons.
Eater Chicago noted that simultaneously, some are pushing the city to increase dining capacity from he current 25% limit, aiming to combat closures and layoffs.
Still, Illinois health officials rank bars and indoor dining as a high risk for spreading COVID-19.
The city outlined guidelines pertaining to structures, heating devices and safety in a document posted on Friday (September 18).
For example, temporary outdoor structures for outdoor dining have to have open sides for air flow, heaters should be disconnected overnight, and establishing plans for inclement weather, among others.
Guidelines are subject to change, according to the city.
