Alternatives to traditional movie theaters have become popular during the pandemic, including drive-in theaters and streaming. Now, another option will be returning to the Miami area: boat-ins.
Ballyhoo's Boat-In will show a month-long series of aquatic-themed movies starting this weekend on Saturday, September 26, according to TimeOut last Friday (September 18).
They will be showing Jaws, Moana and Finding Nemo, TimeOut reports. According to Ballyhoo's Eventbrite page, they will be showing Jumanji: The Next Level on October 17.
The pop-up floating cinema will start in North Miami at Haulover Sandbar. Then, Ballyhoo will travel south to Key Biscayne near the Miami Marine Stadium. The cinema's final stop will be at Bill Baggs State Park.
You don't have to have a boat to participate, however. Ballyhoo is also offering onland viewing tickets for park screenings, which will allow people to drive up.
"These amphibian tickets (of sorts) are sold for parties of up to six people and all social-distancing rules apply," TimeOut reported.
COVID-19 pandemic restrictions are still in place when it comes to boat capacity and docking.
Tickets start at $50 per boat and Ballyhoo allows all kinds of food and drinks. Don't forget the popcorn!
