Hours after resuming the search for missing Manchester boy Lane Frame, recovery crews located his body in Lake Michigan. He was only 12 years old.
Lane went missing Monday after he was swept off a pier into Lake Michigan. A group of 14 family members traveled from Tennessee to upper Michigan on Saturday for a vacation, and made a trip to Frankfort North Pier. While walking to a lighthouse, a wave crashed over him and a small group of the family, knocking him and his aunt off the pier into the lake. While his aunt was able to make it out, Lane was not.
His family said divers recovered the body around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday near the pier in about 15 feet of water, according to WSMV. Rescue crews from local law enforcement and the U.S. Coast Guard had been searching the water since Monday, but have faced bad weather conditions.
"We thank you for all the support and everything everybody has done," Jewell Frame, Lane's uncle, told WSMV Tuesday. "Please be praying that we find our baby and I know it's a tragic thing. I mean things happen for a reason so just keep us in your prayers."
A GoFundMe was set up for the family to help with funds for lodging, food, and anything else they would need while waiting to find Lane. As of Wednesday afternoon, it has raised over $11,000.
