Four year's after Lil Peep's mixtape "Hellboy" was dropped on Soundcloud, it has now been released on all streaming platforms - including iHeartRadio.
Lil Peep's people announced the release on Friday on Instagram. Lil Peep - whose real name was Gustav Elijah Åhr - first put out "Hellboy" in 2016 when he was 19 years old. Pitchfork called the emo trap artist's mixtape "a masterpiece of Lil Peep's lifetime." The only single released from "Hellboy" was "Girls" in 2016 before his untimely death from a drug overdose a year later.
The name for the mixtape came from the comic book character Hellboy, who Lil Peep saw himself in because his look made people fear him even though he wanted to be a positive force.
“He told me that he saw parts of himself in the character Hellboy. He said that people would judge him off the way he looked, when he really just wanted to help people out,” producer Smokeasac told GQ.
This is the second time his estate has re-released Lil Peep's recordings after his death. The mixtape "Crybaby" came out again in 2019, which was four years after it was originally recorded and self released.
