Before Meghan Markle retired from acting to marry Prince Harry, she portrayed Rachel Zane on Suits for 7 seasons. Many of he co-stars from the legal drama, including her on-screen love interest Patrick J. Adams and his wife Troian Bellisario, were in attendance at the wedding.
Not long after watching Meghan walk down the aisle, however, many of her friends have had to watch as Meghan navigates constant public scrutiny. For Adams, this has proved difficult to do over the last few years. "Knowing what's in Meghan's heart and knowing how compassionate she can be, it's hard to watch because you want your friends to be left alone to build their life together," he told Access Hollywood in a recent interview.
Adams also told the outlet he's "very, very happy" that she's speaking out about the upcoming election, even though she's criticized for it. He said she's "becoming very vocal and doing whatever she can to help the election in November." He added: "I miss my friend, but I'm very happy she's doing well."
Though Adams is concerned for his friend, it seems the Duchess of Sussex has figured out a way to handle the criticism and backlash. "The moment that you're able to be liberated from all these other opinions of what you know to be true, then I think it's very easy to live with truth and live with authenticity," she said in a recent interview with Fortune. 'That's how I choose to move through the world." She also shared an inspiration quote from Georgia O'Keefe, which she hung in her childhood bedroom, that helps her keep a clear head: "I have already settled it for myself so flattery and criticism go down the same drain and I am quite free."
