Suspect Arrested In South Nashville Murder Over Woman He Previously Dated

A man has been arrested in connection to a fatal shooting of a man Metro Police said was the boyfriend of a woman he previously dated.

Caleb Walker, 19, was taken into custody Monday afternoon in connection to the murder of Brandon Mullins, 32, in the parking lot of Union on Thompson Apartments, the Metro Nashville Police Department announced on its Twitter account.

Police said the confrontation between the two men took place overnight and was over Mullins' girlfriend, who had previously dated Walker.

"Caleb Walker, 19, is now in custody for the overnight murder of Brandon Mullins, 32, in the parking lot of Union on Thompson Apts, 1020 Thompson Pl," the Metro Nashville Police Department tweeted on Monday afternoon. "The confrontation was over Mullins' girlfriend, who formerly dated Walker."

The department responded to the apartment complex on Thompson Lane just after 3:00 a.m., FOX 17 News reports.

MNPD confirmed Mullins was lying on the ground with an upper body gunshot wound when officers arrived at the scene. The Nashville Fire Department also responded to the scene and confirmed the victim had "at least one gunshot wound" upon arrival, WKRN reports.

The victim was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead from injuries sustained in the shooting.
