Ticketmaster Agrees To Refund Customers In For Canceled Events In Arizona

Ticketmaster customers who had an event in Arizona canceled, postponed, or rescheduled because of the pandemic will be able to get their money back.

Ticketmaster agreed to pay $71 million in refunds after an investigation by the Arizona Attorney General's Office into the company's refund policy.

The investigation found that after March 14 the FAQ section on Ticketmaster's website no longer said the company would automatically make refunds available to customers for canceled, postponed, or rescheduled events within 7-10 business days. Instead, the website would only automatically offer refunds for canceled shows. Event organizers could limit refunds for postponed or rescheduled events.

“Consumers who spent hundreds or even thousands of dollars on tickets to live events were left in limbo because of COVID-19,” said Attorney General Mark Brnovich in a statement.

The $71 million will pay for refunds for 650 events in Arizona that were canceled or changed due to COVID-19.

Customers who purchased tickets before March 14 should have received an email about a refund. Customers who did not receive an email can file a consumer complaint with the Attorney General's Office.

Last week, the AG's Office settled a lawsuit with Honda so that Honda and Acura drivers in Arizona would receive gift cards for replacing recalled airbags.
