A Facebook Live video shows a Houston man drinking behind the wheel minutes before a crash that killed three people.
Camilo Morejon, 49, has been charged with three counts of intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle and one count of intoxication assault with a vehicle. He is accused of killing Leosveyka Gonzalez, Massel Rodriguez, and Ricardo Rodriguez-Tamayo when he allegedly crashed his silver Honda into a black pickup truck on Saturday morning, the Houston Chronicle reported.
The three people killed were passengers in Morejon's car, and Gonzalez has been identified as Morejon's girlfriend.
The driver of the truck was hospitalized for a brain bleed and broken arm following the crash.
Video still available on Morejon's Facebook page shows the driver drinking a beer and saying in Spanish that he drives better when drinking.
Gonzalez filmed and uploaded the video to Morejon's page at 7:47 a.m. and the fatal crash happened at 7:53 p.m. The video does not show the crash.
“It’s very rare that we see actions of the defendant that close in time to a horrific crash like that, but it’s what happens it’s what goes on moments before lives are lost,” Harris County prosecutor Sean Teare told KPRC.
Morejon's blood alcohol level was 0.168, more twice the legal limit in Texas, at the time of the crash, police records show.
