Record-Breaking Number Of Votes Has Been Cast In Bexar County In 2020

As of Wednesday, Bexar County had seen record-breaking numbers of votes in the 2020 presidential election. So far, more votes have been counted in 2020 than in the 2016 election and any other election in history, according to numbers provided by the election department.

Over 29,000 voters cast a ballot on Wednesday in person and 3,764 mail-in ballots were counted. This brought the county's total to 521,496 in-person votes and 81,543 absentee votes.

By noon on Thursday, a total of 608,725 votes had been cast so far, according to the elections department.

In the 2016 election, there was a total of 598,691 votes cast in Bexar County.

Though the running total for 2020 is greater than the past presidential elections, voter turnout still remains slightly less.

In the 2016 election, 57% of registered voters turned out. This year, slightly more than half of all registered voters in Bexar County have voted. Since 2016, the county has added more than 112,000 registered voters.

However, with two more days left of early voting and Election Day upon us, turnout in 2020 is expected to be greater than 2016's percentage as well.
