De Smet Jesuit High School students are testing positive for COVID-19 after attending a Halloween party of more than 200.
St. Louis County Executive Dr. Sam Page confirmed at a press conference Monday morning (November 9) that at least five students from the private school tested positive for the virus after attending the party, adding that everyone in attendance should self-quarantine and get a COVID-19 test.
There are 4,472 cases in St. Louis County as of midday Tuesday (November 10), including 844 new cases in the past 24 hours. That’s a rate of 447.8 per 100,000 cases, data show.
"If this doesn't change a week or two from now and we're standing here with the same rate of increase, then we will have to be considering more restrictions," Page said.
Page recommends anyone who has traveled or attended a gathering — including weddings — should self-isolate for two weeks, the Riverfront Times reported Monday. He also urged residents to take precautions recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, including wearing a mask, social distancing and frequently washing or sanitizing hands.
"The pandemic is not political," Page said during a COVID-19 update, urging the public to continue taking precautions. "This disease knows no party, no race or no religion."
