The famed Ice Castles will reportedly return to New Hampshire for their seventh season this winter, but with specific changes amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Attendance will be limited and visitors must wear protective face coverings while walking through one-way tunnels and crawl spaces in an effort to meet social distancing guidelines, CEO Kyle Standifird told CBS Boston.
The Ice Castles usually draw tens of thousands of visitors, but will now be reduced to a new "quarter mile-long winter light walk in the forest and sledding hill," which will also be spread out for guests to adhere to social distancing protocols, Standifird confirmed.
“We are thrilled to welcome families back to Ice Castles this winter,” Standifird said via CBS Boston. “The safety of our guests and staff has always been our top priority, and the new features and guidelines we have in place this season are designed to create a safe and magical environment for everyone.”
Workers plan to begin growing up to 10,000 icicles per day beginning in late November if the weather cooperates and the Ice Castles exhibit is projected to open publicly in early January 2021.
The Ice Castles are also featured in Colorado, Utah and Wisconsin, according to their official website.
