Miami Beach was just named North America's Leading Destination 2020 by the World Travel Awards.
The World Travel Awards are a big deal in the tourism industry. The categories are voted on by professionals in the travel sector as well as the public. This year's gala was held virtually due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
This isn't the first time Miami Beach has taken home a World Travel Award. Miami Beach has been named both North America and the World's Leading Tourist Board from 2016 to 2019. They were also named North America's Leading Honeymoon Destination in 2018 and 2019.
In a press release, the organization called it the winner of North America's Leading Destination for its "dazzling array of Art Deco lights, sweeping beaches and sizzling entertainment."

Miami Beach managed to beat out longstanding winner Las Vegas, which had held the title for nearly 10 years. The other nominees included New York City, Orlando, Chicago, Maui, New Orleans, and Vancouver.
