Organizers for Nashville Pride have announced new dates and a new location for next year's event. The 33rd Annual Nashville Pride Festival and Parade will be held September 11 and 12 at Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park.
Nashville Pride 2020 was canceled this year due to the ongoing pandemic, but organizers are hopeful for the 2021 event, especially since it will be held later in the year.
Alex Fortney, president of Nashville Pride, said the event has grown over the years and the change of venue will help the event be even more successful.
"The increase in festival attendance over the past several years has been nothing short of inspiring," said Fortney. "We are confident that the move to Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park will give us a more comfortable space that will allow for our continue growth in a safe and measured way."
Nashville Pride has always been held in June to coincide with Pride Month to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community. Officials said the change to September came after receiving feedback.
"Changing the dates of the festival and location will allow for the annual celebration to expand in size while keeping the health and safety of our staff, volunteers, entertainers and attendees," the organization said in a press release.
The group still plans on celebrating during Pride Month, with the Board of Directors planning smaller events. More details about the celebration, including the September festival, will be release early next year.
