Ryan Reynolds feels so grateful to be the father of three baby girls.
The Deadpool actor opened up about his family life in a new interview with Access, in which he gushed about being a “girl dad.” While in conversation with Mario Lopez’s kids, Gia and Dominic, for the Friday (November 13) special, the 44-year-old star talked about fatherhood and raising his three daughters with wife Blake Lively, 33.
“I love being a girl dad,” the actor admitted. “I have three daughters, which I never in a million years would have imagined. I come from all boys. I have three older brothers. I’m the youngest of four boys so for me to have three daughters has been such a ride and I love every second of it.”
Speaking on what he loves about his family of five, Reynolds said, “They are the most capable people I know. If anything got crazy or scary in my life, they are the first people I would lean on because they have wisdom and strength and they’re calm under fire. They have courage under fire.”
Reynolds and Lively — who married in 2012 — share daughters James, 5, and Inez, 4 and welcomed their youngest daughter, Betty, in October 2019. Their latest addition to their expanding family remained nameless up until this summer when family friend Taylor Swift revealed the one-year-old’s name in her song “Betty.”
On the acting couple's parenting approach despite working such busy schedules, the Marvel star said the secret is to “try to be as present as possible.”
“We don’t split up like I shoot movies and my wife shoots movies and we go travel all over the place and we just all go together,” Reynolds explained. “I think that’s been the best part of it is that we really don’t spend a lot of time apart. I get to spend a lot of time with my girls.”
