Child Hurt By Stray Bullet During Shooting Outside Tacoma Home

A young child was shot by a stray bullet during a shooting in Tacoma Sunday evening (November 15), according to Tacoma police.

A 911 call came in around 8 p.m. about a reported shooting outside a home in the 8800 block of S. Sheridan Avenue. Police said bullets pierced a home and struck the child. The child was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

KING 5 said the child was 10 years old, and their family was home at the time. According to KOMO, "the extent of their injuries was not given, but the child was expected to survive." Authorities didn't provide anymore information about what lead up to the shooting, arrests or if anyone else was hurt.

A few days ago, authorities identified an Eastern Washington man as the victim of a fatal shooting in Boise, Idaho. A coroner identified the man as 42-year-old Gamaliel Nava Garzon of Kennewick. Police said they found Garzon in the hallway of a hotel with a gunshot wound on October 30. He died in an emergency room. Officers arrested a teenager in connection to the case.
