Broward Teen Said They Took LSD, Accused Of Attacking Disney Guard

A 19-year-old South Florida man is accused of attacking a security guard at Walt Disney World’s Animal Kingdom, Local 10 reported.

On October 25, Orange County deputies responded to Animal Kingdom in the afternoon. Authorities said they secured James Patrick Arvid, of Pompano Beach, on a stretcher. They added that Arvid appeared to be "in a state of excited delirium and had unexpected strength."

The security guard said he was patrolling in DinoLand USA until he was tackled from behind. The guard then put Arvid into a headlock, according to an arrest affidavit. Deputies and guests were able to get the Pompano Beach teen off of him. Investigators added that the guard had a five-inch abrasion bleeding from his right elbow.

Deputies said Arvid was transported to a hospital for treatment because "he was not being responsive to commands." Arvid told a nurse, “I took LSD and tried to kill someone,” according to the affidavit. The document also said Arvid could not recall anything else from the day.

Doctors told investigators that the Pompano Beach teen showed signs of heatstroke, alcohol and drug use, which would have lead to aggression and a heightened mental state.

Arvid was charged with battery on a uniformed security guard.
