Little Mix's Jesy Nelson Is Taking An 'Extended' Break From The Band

Jesy Nelson is taking a break from Little Mix for an "extended" period of time to focus on her health.

In a statement to Us Weekly, a spokesperson for the band explained, "Jesy is having extended time off from Little Mix for private medical reasons. We will not be issuing any further comment currently and ask media to please respect her privacy at this time."

Although no other details have been revealed in relation to Jesy's health, she took to Twitter to let fans know that she's doing alright, and to thank them for their concern. She wrote, "I’m okay. Thank you for your support."

News of Jesy's break comes after she was missing from several recent appearances alongside her bandmates. A previous statement from their rep revealed that the singer would be absent from the finale of the band's Little Mix The Search, their BBC One talent show in the UK, as well as hosting the MTV EMAs. The statement said, "Jesy is unwell and will not be appearing on tonight's final of Little Mix The Search," adding, "She will also not be hosting or performing at tomorrow's MTV EMAs [Europe Music Awards]."

Little Mix released their most recent album, Confetti, at the beginning of November. The project is their sixth full-length effort and follows their 2018 album LM5. After releasing their album, the girls thanked fans for all of their support through this challenging year. They wrote on Instagram, "We can't thank you enough for all the love you've shown us this year. From one lockdown to another, #Confetti is here to save 2020. So turn it up and play it loud!"
