President-elect Joe Biden is reportedly expected to name a Massachusetts native as his deputy chief of staff.
Jen O'Malley Dillon, 44, is expected to serve alongside newly announced chief of staff Ron Klain under the Biden administration, ABC News reports. Dillon has served as the chief strategist of the Biden campaign since March and became the first woman to lead a Democratic presidential campaign to victory, WCVB reports.
Dillon was crucial in the growth of the Biden campaign's digital operation, which set record-breaking fundraising totals leading up to the 2020 United States presidential election. NBC News reports Dillon was not expected to accept a White House role, but was urged to stay by Biden campaign officials given her success as chief strategist prior to and during the general election campaign amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Dillon had also previously worked in both of former President Barack Obama's presidential campaigns, but never served in the White House, CNN reports.
Fellow Massachusetts native Annie Tomasini is also expected to join the Biden administration as director of Oval Office operations. Tomasini has held several different positions working with the Biden family for more than a decade and had previously worked as senior director of state, local and community relations and strategic outreach at Harvard Public Affairs and Communications, WCVB reports.
