Jamie and Heather Hejduk of San Antonio are now the proud parents of 10 children after adopting six young siblings.
The couple already had four biological children before deciding to become foster parents in August 2019. The family didn't intend on adopting six children until two-month-old twin boys were placed in their care.
The twins Noah and Joel are now 16 months old. They were the first children the Hejduk family fostered.
When the couple learned that Noah and Joel had four other older siblings they decided they "couldn’t split up all their siblings," Heather told KSAT.
The older children are 5-year-old Elijah, 4-year-old Mayci, 3-year-old Anthony, and 2-year-old Nicholas.
“The only way we could see them staying together is if we were the ones to do it,” Jamie said in an interview with KENS5.
On Thursday, November 19, the Hejduk family officially grew from six people to 12. Judge Charles Montemayor approved the Hejduks becoming adoptive parents in a virtual adoption ceremony.
“First of all, I want to tell you, thank you so much for opening your heart and your home to these beautiful, beautiful children. I know it’s been a long journey for you, but it’s reaching a happy ending for you today. You may not have given birth to them, but you gave them life. God bless you," Montemayor told Jamie and Heather.
