A Louisiana hip-hop reunion that took place over the weekend provided major nostalgia for the "9-9 and the 2000s."
Lil Wayne was joined by former Cash Money Records collaborator Juvenile on stage at his daughter, Reginae Carter's, 22nd birthday bash in Atlanta on Saturday night (November 28.) Video of the two rappers performing was shared by XXL Magazine's Twitter account Monday (November 30.)
Lil Wayne, along with producer Mannie Fresh, was featured on Juvenile's signature hit "Back That Thang Up," among several other tracks when both were signed to Cash Money Records and part of the hip-hop group, "Hot Boys," in 1999, prior to his own debut solo studio album, 'Tha Block Is Hot,' later that year.
The appearance came hours after Lil Wayne announced his decision to pull out of performing at the Mike Tyson-Roy Jones Jr. pay-per-view event "due to unforeseeable circumstances" on Saturday.
Reginae Carter's birthday bash has already received criticism online from many calling it a "superspreader event" amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic after several other photos and videos were shared on social media.
"So like is COVID not a thing anymore," one Twitter user wrote.
"Not a mask in sight," another user added. "Just reckless ! To think all of these folks leave the party and go home to their spouse/kids or parents\grandparents and spread the virus.”
Several other notable guests included 2 Chainz, Toya Johnson, and YFN Lucci, Reginae's on-and-off boyfriend who appears to have possibly reconciled with the television personality based on several posts from the weekend.
