A Thanksgiving dinner turned violent after a man made an unexpected visit to his ex-wife's family gathering.
The ex-wife had her new partner over when officials were called to the home.
Captain Eric Hightower with the San Antonio Police Department arrived to give information. According to Hightower, an ex-husband went to his ex-wife's house because he was angry about the Thanksgiving celebrations at the home.
He then confronted his ex-wife, who was with her new partner.
The suspect was arguing with a family member when he took out a gun and began shooting.
Hightower said that two people were shot, one in the hand and another in the buttocks.
Captain Hightower said that another family member took out his gun, show the suspect a couple of times before taking off and driving himself to the hospital.
The two family members that were shot are in stable condition.
The suspect was found, taken to SAMMC, and is being treated for serious trauma and life-threatening injuries.
The suspect could face at least two counts of Aggravated Assault with a deadly weapon, but will depend on homicide investigators' decisions.
There are currently no charges for the second shooter, as it appears the person was acting in self-defense.
