These Texas Made The List Of 'Best Cities For New Year's'

The New Year's holiday usually draws in large crowds and big celebrations. Things will look a lot different this year, however, in the midst of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Some cities are more suited for the holiday in the unusual conditions this year.

Wallethub compared the 100 largest cities to compile a list of the best cities in the nation for New Year's.

13 Texas cities made the list, one of them being in the top three.

Plano was number three on the list, placing the highest of the Texas cities. The city also placed third overall for lowest neighborhood security.

Here are the other Texas cities that made the list and their rankings:

  • Austin- 17
  • Irving- 23
  • Arlington-26
  • Garland- 27
  • Fort Worth- 40
  • San Antonio- 50
  • Houston- 60
  • Dallas- 61
  • El Paso- 74
  • Lubbock- 87
  • Corpus Christi- 89
  • Laredo- 94

Laredo may have been the lowest-ranking Texas city on the list, but the city placed fourth overall for lowest car theft rate.

To determine the list, Wallethub compared the 100 most populated cities in America across two key dimensions: safety and accessibility and entertainment and food.

The two dimensions were then evaluated using 15 relevant metrics including average COVID-19 deaths in the past week per 100,000 residents, walkability, pedestrian fatality rate, legality of fireworks, and average alcoholic beverage price.
