Douglas County School District announced that its students will begin returning to in-person learning after winter break.
DCSD announced the decision on Thursday, December 10.
Preschool through elementary students will return to classrooms five days a week on January 5, 2021.
The district is still discussing when a possible return for middle and high school students should occur.
According to FOX31, the district plans to meet prepare a plan for transitioning middle school classes to hybrid learning on or around January 25.
The school board will also be preparing for a potential return to high school hybrid learning on or around February 22.
The district is looking to hire additional substitute teachers to prepare for the return to in-person learning. As of now, they have a pool of 600 substitutes and are asking more to apply.
Douglas County was one of the many school districts that chose to return to full remote learning after Thanksgiving break as COVID-19 cases surged at the start of the holidays.
Denver Public Schools also announced a new plan to bring students back into the classrooms in 2021.
DPS will slowly phase students in throughout the month of January. By February 1, all students whose families have chosen in-person learning will be back in the classroom.
