First Person Receives COVID Vaccine At Methodist Dallas Medical Center

Individuals have begun receiving Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccinations in Texas.

At Methodist Dallas Medical Center, the first person to receive the vaccination was an environment services worker that cleans the emergency room.

There will be many healthcare workers, such as nurses, physicians, non-clinical staff, and ER staff, that will be in the first round of those to receive the vaccination.

According to officials, those receiving the vaccinations registered early and filled out consent forms and paperwork.

The hospital said that nurses have been trained to give the shot.

Those receiving the vaccine will stay for 10 to 15 minutes following the vaccination to ensure that there are no immediate side effects.

According to the medical center, all of the dosages of this first round should be administered by the end of next week. The second round should be shipped and administered within the next three weeks.

CEO of Methodist Health Jim Scoggin said, "I've been in healthcare for a long time, I've seen a lot of important events. I can't imagine a more important event than today and I can't imagine a more special Christmas present on behalf of the communities we serve and the staff we serve throughout North Texas."
