Strange or unexpected animal encounters in Florida tend to grab people's attention. While such instances are rare, you can guarantee the people involved will never forget.
The latest moment happened Sunday morning (December 13) at Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue. Firefighters had quite the surprise when they came into work and walked around the truck.
A lone coyote was spotted wandering through the bay, but they weren't "sure who was startled more as they ran in opposite directions," the department said in a Twitter post along with pictures of the animal. "This station is located in a dense urban neighborhood about a mile from the beach."
According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, coyotes have been recorded throughout Florida, reportedly living in urban, suburban and rural landscapes. "The FWC says that coyotes are curious but timid creature and will generally flee if challenged by loud noises or aggressive actions," NBC Miami reported.
Stories of animal encounters in Florida tend to be more on the scaly side. Back in November, witnesses spotted a "dinosaur-sized" alligator taking a stroll across a golf course. More recently, a puppy got a job after a video of its rescue went viral.
