A St. Tammany school board member has been accused of shoplifting, again, and has been asked to resign from her position. Sharon Lo Drucker was previously arrested in 2018 for theft.
According to a police report from the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office, police responded to a possible theft or merchandise incident at the Belk store near Covington on November 28. Drucker, 55, received a misdemeanor summons for theft under $1,000.
NOLA reached out to Drucker for a comment on the incident, but received no response. The media outlet reports however, that the St. Tammany School System was informed by Drucker that she plans to resign.
"The School Board is waiting for notification from the Louisiana Secretary of State in regards to the timeline for naming her replacement," the school board said in a statement. "Once we have that timeline in place, the school board will interview candidates for the position and vote on an interim representative to serve District 9."
In 2018, Drucker was arrested for shoplifting and accused of stealing $58.25 worth of goods from the Covington Walmart. She pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor charge and placed in a yearlong diversion program in January 2019. The board asked her to resign from her position at the time, but she refused.
