Elon Musk's Boring Company Wants To Build Loops Under Las Vegas Strip

Elon Musk's The Boring Company is dreaming up new ways to move people around Las Vegas.

On Monday, the company applied with Clark County to build an underground loop system that would connect the Strip to McCarran International Airport, downtown Las Vegas, and Allegiant Stadium. Another proposed loop would connect all of the Caesars properties.

The loop would function like a subways system but instead of subway cars, people will travel in Tesla Model 3s, Model Xs, and a tram for up to 16 people that will travel up to 165 MPH.

The Boring Company boasts on its website that it'll take three minutes to travel from the Las Vegas Convention Center to Mandalay Bay instead of the 30 minutes it takes by car during peak traffic.

“The project will provide the quick, environmentally friendly and efficient movement of people within Clark County and its surroundings without disrupting activities occurring above ground,” the company sent in a letter to the county.

“This transportation system will provide benefits to the surrounding community by increasing the ease in which the public moves between key destinations within the greater resort corridor and beyond, while alleviating surface traffic. The project will be harmonious and compatible with existing and planned development in the area, and will provide visitors to the greater Las Vegas area with an innovative transportation system worthy of their expectations.”

The county will review the applications for the two loops in February, the Las Vegas Review reported.
