Cleveland's Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Is Slated For $100 Million Expansion

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is expanding.

Officials announced plans for the $100 million endeavor — which has nearly doubled from the original $55 million plan — on Friday (December 18). Plans include an added exhibit and event space, a lakeside band shell and more, according to the Cleveland Scene.

The museum has raised $73 million of its $100 million goal to date, Rock Hall CEO Greg Harris told reporters.

New York-based Practice for Architecture and Urbanism (PAU) will take the reins on the expansion design. Construction is slated for early 2022, according to The Architect’s Newspaper.

“Our impact has been great on visitors, students and the community over the last 25 years, and it’s now time to expand our physical space,” Harris said in a statement. “We are excited to join with PAU, one of the world’s top architectural design firms, as we build on this success and look forward to the next 100 years.”

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has been a staple in downtown Cleveland for over 25 years. It opened to the public for the first time on September 2, 1995, and has since drawn millions of music fans.
